No heat in January, no cooling in July β we answer the phone around the clock and we don't charge extra for nights or weekends. Family owned, serving Columbia and Boone County.
Tell us what the system is doing β we'll call you right back.
Columbia averages 5,024 heating degree days and 1,248 cooling degree days a year, with a normal January low near 21Β°F and a normal July high close to 88Β°F. That means your furnace and your air conditioner both work for a living here β and it's why we staff for two emergency seasons instead of one.
No heat, short cycling, a blower that runs cold, or a furnace that keeps tripping its limit switch β diagnosed and fixed, any hour.
Furnace repair βWarm air, frozen coils, a condenser that won't start, or a system that can't keep up on a 95Β° afternoon.
A/C repair βNights, weekends and holidays at the same rate as a Tuesday morning. No after-hours premium.
Emergency service βThe system Columbia Water & Light pays the most to install β up to $1,200, and more if you're switching off gas or propane.
Heat pumps βRight-sized replacements for Columbia's gas-heated majority, with the permit pulled and the paperwork handled.
Furnace installation βFor older homes with no ductwork to work with β common in Sturgeon, Rocheport and Columbia's pre-war neighborhoods.
Ductless systems βColumbia is a municipal utility town, which means the rebates here don't come from Ameren or Evergy β they come from the city, and they're larger than most homeowners expect.
| Equipment | Rebate |
|---|---|
| A/C or heat pump, SEER2 15.2β18.1 | $800 |
| A/C or heat pump, SEER2 18.2+ | $1,200 |
| Geothermal under 5 tons | $1,200 |
| Switching gas or propane β heat pump | $1,200 |
| Smart thermostat | up to $50 |
Two details catch people out: the application is due within six months of installation, and it requires a final mechanical permit. The city's own guidance notes those permits are usually pulled by the contractor β so the rebate depends on who you hire. We handle both.

The federal 25C and 25D tax credits both expired for equipment placed in service after December 31, 2025. Any contractor still advertising "$2,000 back" or "30% off geothermal" for a 2026 install is quoting a credit that no longer exists.
We don't charge extra for emergency service. A Saturday night call costs the same as a weekday visit β you shouldn't have to sit out a weekend without heat to avoid a surcharge.
Our work carries a 100% satisfaction guarantee. If you're not satisfied with the service we provided, your money is refunded.
Permit pulled, AHRI documentation gathered, rebate application filed inside the six-month window. Skipping any of it costs you the rebate.
Gas furnaces, heat pumps, ductless, geothermal, commercial rooftop units β serviced whether or not we installed them.
Heating fuel changes dramatically across this county β Centralia is 70% natural gas while Harrisburg is 46% propane β and so does which utility pays your rebate. We work in all of it.
No. We answer emergency calls 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and we do not charge extra fees for emergency service. You do not have to wait out a weekend without heat or air conditioning, and you will not pay a premium for calling on a Saturday night.
If you are a City of Columbia Utilities electric customer, Columbia Water and Light pays $800 for a replacement air conditioner or heat pump rated SEER2 15.2 to 18.1, and $1,200 at SEER2 18.2 or higher. Geothermal units under 5 tons also qualify for $1,200, and switching from gas or propane to a qualifying heat pump can earn $1,200 through the Efficient Electrification program. Rebates apply to replacements only, not new construction, and the application is due within six months of installation. Full rebate guide β
Not for equipment installed in 2026. The federal 25C Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit and the 25D Residential Clean Energy Credit both ended for property placed in service after December 31, 2025. Many contractor websites still advertise these credits. Utility rebates through Columbia Water and Light or Boone Electric are what remain available.
Mechanical work inside Columbia city limits must be performed by a mechanic licensed by the City, and a final mechanical permit is required in order to claim the Columbia Water and Light rebate. Unincorporated Boone County also requires a permit for HVAC installation or upgrade, though the county is not permitted by state statute to license contractors.
